Scab is a growing problem in the UK and recently there has been a revival in sheep dipping as farmers battle to control it.
The first scab resistant to injectables was reported early in 2018 so dipping overcomes this growing problem. Scab is a very contagious condition spread by psorotic mites. Signs of scab include sheep itching intensely and rubbing themselves repeatedly, stamping feet and clawing and biting at body parts and seeing tufts of wool lost in fences or hedges. Sheep will lose interest in grazing as the itch becomes overwhelming leading to a slow painful death.
